Finally getting back to it
Hey folks!
After a few detours and a brief dalliance with a new game idea (Gentlemen Magicians in regency England - I'll put it on Itch one day), I'm happy to say that I'm finally getting stuck back into Lineage. This week I've made progress on the promised system hacks and alternate settings that will be included in the final version.
The alternate versions, presented in increasing order of weirdness are:
- The Family Business
- A Pantheon of Gods
- The Immortal Court
- Murder Mystery
- Wizard University
- The Big Tournament
I'm very excited to flesh these out. My hope is that these alternate rules will give you all the tools you need to monkey around with the design and build Lineage into whatever shape best fits your stories.
I've also finally made a breakthrough on some python tools I had been devolving to help me test these alternate designs. These tools had been languishing for quite a while!
The on-going shipping apocalypse has somewhat put a damper on my ambitions to produce Lineage as a physical product, so don't expect to hear anything on that front for a while. But! With any luck, it'll happen one day. In the meantime, I'll keep plugging away to make Lineage the best game it can be.

P.S.
I re-watched the 1967 Camelot musical starring Richard Harris as King Arthur and the magnetic Vanessa Redgrave as Guenevere. That movie is a great example of a small but intense game of Lineage! A king and queen marry and live in bliss, Arthur founds a new organization of knights, the prince of a neighboring kingdom, Lancelot du Lac, becomes a trusted ally and leader of the nascent organization, and finally a tryst between the queen and Lancelot leads to an impossible situation for Arthur made all the worse by the late introduction of his bastard son who is bent on Camelot's destruction. All of this culminates in Arthur leading a high profile campaign against both his love and his former best friend which he knows will destroy the very idea on which his kingdom is founded. High drama! I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.
