Lineage Updates

Hi Folks!

I'm finally getting around to a long promised update on the development of Lineage. In short, nothing new yet but I plan to come back to it soon. I published Lineage about a year and a half ago and since then it's been downloaded 1,738 times. I have very little to compare that number to but I think for a little, niche, story telling game that's pretty good!

Development has been on pause for a couple reasons. Chief among them has been that the pandemic has continued to affect my life and prevents me from being able to bring Lineage to new play groups with the frequency that I'd prefer. Play test games have been few and far between on my end so as not to abuse my immediate friends' kindness and patience. In fact, this was the primary reason I decided to release a public play test packet and feedback survey. Speaking of which...

I've received 23 responses to the feedback survey. Thank you very much to those of you who gave me your thoughts on the game. The feedback has been really helpful and very positive. A specific way in which the feedback will inform the next version of Lineage: I noticed a significant portion of those who responded were interested in playing with non-human characters in their royal families (dogs, elves, faeries, gods, etc.) As a result, I'm going to include rules for alternate lifespans that will cover lots of options so you can play with whatever characters you want. If you have enjoyed Lineage or would just like to give me your two cents, I'd still love to hear from you! More feedback is more good.

Soon: development on Lineage resumes, revised rules text, alternate settings, and new mechanics to suit a wide variety of play styles!

Stay safe out there,

-Tim
